A Shopify order gets a LiqPay payment link or an invoice to email, and a confirmed LiqPay payment finds its order and moves it on, without anyone checking two screens
Many Ukrainian shops on Shopify want their buyers to pay through LiqPay: Privat24, cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, instalments. In the facts we checked for LiqPay and Shopify there is no ready LiqPay payment option inside the Shopify checkout, so we do not promise one. The LiqPay ↔ Shopify pair works next to the checkout instead: for a Shopify order it prepares a LiqPay payment with the same amount and order number, sends the buyer a link or an invoice to email, waits for LiqPay's confirmation, checks that it is genuine, and only then moves the order on. Below: what exactly moves, which scenarios we cover and which capabilities of both systems we rely on.
Shopify → LiqPayShopify reports a new order waiting for payment, and the pair reads it with the amount, currency, buyer and items.
Shopify → LiqPayFor that order the pair prepares a LiqPay payment with the same amount and order number and sends the buyer a payment link or a LiqPay invoice to email.
LiqPay → ShopifyLiqPay sends the payment status to the pair; the pair recalculates the signature with your private key, and only a status that matches is accepted.
LiqPay → ShopifyA confirmed payment finds its Shopify order by order number, and the order is marked paid for the amount still due and moves to fulfilment.
LiqPay → ShopifyThe LiqPay payment reference is added to the order note. Shopify replaces the note as a whole on update, so the pair first reads the existing note and writes it back together with the new line.
LiqPay ↔ ShopifyOnce a day LiqPay payments are compared with Shopify orders; payments without an order and orders waiting too long go to a short list for a person.
What we connect
You pass us the LiqPay public key and the private key for signing; the private key is stored only on the pair's side and never appears in links or letters to buyers.
On the Shopify side the store owner grants the pair access only to orders, and to nothing else in the store.
We agree which orders get a LiqPay payment: all orders with a chosen payment option, only manager-agreed orders, or only orders above an amount you set.
We rehearse with LiqPay's separate test keys, which never charge or credit real money, on a few test orders.
We switch to the live keys and store from an agreed date and look at the first days of payments together with you.
Automation scenarios
01
Paid in Privat24, the order still waits
Beforethe buyer pays by a link the manager sent in a messenger, the manager checks LiqPay later and marks the Shopify order paid by hand.
Afterthe confirmed payment finds its order and moves it to fulfilment on its own.
02
A wholesale buyer wants an invoice
Beforethe manager copies the amount from Shopify into LiqPay and types the email by hand, sometimes with a mistake.
Afterthe invoice goes to the buyer's email from the order data, with the order number inside.
03
A payment status nobody checked
Beforeany message that says «paid» could move an order.
Afterthe pair checks every LiqPay status against the signature before touching the order, and anything that does not match goes to a person.
How it works technically
For those who want to check: each point links to the official documentation page it comes from.
LiqPay Checkout supports these payment methods: Privat24, Apple Pay, Google Pay, QR-code payment, Mastercard/Visa cards, FacePay24, tokens, self-service payment terminals, instalments and an invoice sent to email.
The payment status is delivered to the server_url as a POST request with data and signature parameters; to confirm the callback is genuine, the receiving server has to recalculate the signature itself using the same algorithm and private key, and compare it with the one received.
An order can be marked as paid through the API: Shopify records a payment for the outstanding amount — this is meant for payments taken outside its checkout.
The limits come from both systems. We did not find a ready LiqPay payment option inside the Shopify checkout in the facts we rely on, so the buyer pays by a LiqPay link or invoice, not on the Shopify checkout page. Which payment methods the buyer sees is set in your LiqPay account. Refunds are made by a person in LiqPay; this pair does not send refunds on its own. Every payment is checked against what is already recorded, so a repeated status does not change an order twice. Marking an order paid records the amount still due on that order, and the order note is replaced as a whole on update, which is why the pair always reads the old note first. Access to orders is granted by the store owner.
How to start
Three steps from a first message to work on your project.
01
Leave a request
Describe the task in the form — in text or by voice. Budget and timing are optional.
02
We review and estimate
A developer studies the brief, asks about anything unclear and sends an estimate.
Can LiqPay appear as a payment option on our Shopify checkout page?
We do not promise that: in the facts we checked there is no ready way to do it. The pair sends the buyer a LiqPay link or invoice for the Shopify order, and the order moves on when LiqPay confirms the payment.
What happens if a buyer asks for a refund?
A person makes the refund in the LiqPay account and updates the Shopify order. The pair does not return money by itself.
Can we test it without real money?
Yes. LiqPay issues separate test keys that never charge or credit real money. We go live only after the whole path works on test orders.
